The EALA (Ethnikos Association of Latakia-Antaradus) is a Canadian, non-profit organization. It serves as the advocacy body of the Alawite and Rūm (Greek) communities in Canada. Ethnikos - meaning "of a nation"-reflects our vision: that Rūm, Alawite and Greek together form a single nation, bound by coastal roots, history and values. Dedicated to protecting our people and the traditions that unite us.

Meet the Team

Founder and Executive Director
Christina Abraham
A coastal native born in Latakia and raised in Tartous to a blended family of both Alawite and Christians. Inspired by the legacy of her ancestor, Military Commander Saleh al-Ali most notably known for his battles against Ottoman tyranny and his later role in the 1919 coastal revolt. Christina is dedicated to the preservation and protection of the coastal ethnic people of Alawite and Greek Orthodox (Rūm).

Senior Director
Aziz Wehbey
Aziz is an American-Christian patriot who brings over a decade of humanitarian service, as well as advocacy through civic engagement and public forums representing the Syrian diaspora. He serves as the Secretary General of the Free Syrian Civil Movement in the United States, and former President of the Amarian Syrian American Charity. Aziz led earthquake relief, orphan support and social fundraising supporting local U.S. police departments.

Vice Chair & Chief Operating Officer
Rafael Issa
Dedicated to upholding Rūm heritage, restoring ancestral Greek identity and building connections across the global community. Rafael also serves as the Founder and President of the Levantine Greek Association, while also drawing in his experience as a tech CEO, service on NGOs and church boards. Latakian born, Rafael brings vision, leadership and authenticity.

Senior Director of Historical Research
Dimitrios Aristopolous, MA
Historian and social theorist with formal and academic training. Dimitrios holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Anthropology, History and a Master's degree in Political Philosophy.
He is the author of more than 290 published articles on, ancient societies, historical figures, and cultural identity. As Senior Director, he oversees historical verification, academic standards, and political analysis.
